We essentially punish ourselves when we don't believe in the existence of God because it is on the foundation of this belief that we build an edifice of eternal knowledge. Belief in God is an innate desire for accomplishing any task and facing the challenges of life. If we desire to walk on the path of love and tranquility, then this belief has to be kept alive in our hearts forever.
